The "Libertador San Martin National Youth Symphony Orchestra" is experiencing an exciting time: these days, they are rehearsing with great enthusiasm, eagerly awaiting the weekend. Their upcoming concerts will be different: they will take place during a historic trip to Japan, a milestone in their 30-year history.

The atmosphere is one of anticipation. An 86-member orchestra will travel to Japan to perform two concerts in Tokyo and Kyoto , scheduled between August 24 and September 4. Before departing, however, the orchestra will give a recital at the Kirchner Cultural Centre on August 8, under the direction of Maestro Pablo Boggiano . Indeed, it was thanks to Boggiano's efforts that the orchestra secured the invitation, which is fully funded by Japan.

The tour that the San Martín National Youth Orchestra is preparing has special significance for its members. For the first time in Argentina's history, the Youth Orchestra will visit Japan and present its music abroad.

Pablo, one of the Argentine conductors living in Vienna, managed to organize the trip and secure funding from the Japanese government, covering absolutely everything: flights, hotel, meals, per diem, and more. Eighty-six Argentinians will be traveling, including the 76 musicians of the ensemble, conductors Boggiano and Mario Benzecry , assistants, and stagehands.

The orchestra's tour program in Japan promises to be a celebration of classical and popular Argentine music. The concerts will include iconic pieces from the standard repertoire, such as Brahms's Academic Overture and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, as well as outstanding works by Argentine composers, including Astor Piazzolla, Quique Sinesi, and Luis Gianneo.
